Reflection Papers
Roughly every two weeks you will have a reflection paper due on Google Classroom (we may switch this over to a printed copy if needed). Due dates will be listed on our class website. MBurnett108.weebly.com
Reflections papers should:
• Be in MLA Format
• Explain growth from the previous two weeks.
• Connect class activities to your growth as a performer and an individual.
• Be specific.
• Be meaningful to YOU.
• A minimum of 500 words.
Objective:
To have an experience isn’t enough to ensure learning; you need to intentionally and thoughtfully reflect upon the experience and what you learned from it to ensure that learning occurs. As T.S. Eliot once wrote (The Four Quartets, New York: Harcourt Brace, 1943, p. 24), you can “have the experience but miss the meaning.”
Your reflection papers are a way to synthesize, articulate and connect the activities we do in class to your growth as an actor AND as an individual. These papers should be specific and meaningful to you; avoid giving me what you think I want to hear. They should NOT be a summary of our activities. I will already know what we did in class. Focus on what the chosen activity or activities meant or represented to YOU and the specific acting skills you were working to develop. You do not need to reflect on every activity. Use the lessons that were most important, challenging, rewarding, or meaningful to you over the two-week period. Think about WHY we have done the activity and the skills addressed.
Please be sure you are registered for our classroom account and can access Google Classroom.
Assignments will need to be uploaded NO LATER THAN 11:59pm ON THE DATE THE REFLECTION IS DUE.
